Braves Prospect Ronald Acuna Earns AFL MVP

Atlanta Braves prospect Ronald Acuna earned the Joe Black Most Valuable Player Award for the Arizona Fall League after slashing .325/.414/.639 with seven home runs in 23 games.

At 19 years old, Acuna is the youngest player in AFL history to take home the honor. The outfielder will turn 20 in December.

Jose Altuve and Giancarlo Stanton were named the MVP of their respective leagues on Thursday night for the first time in their careers.

Altuve bested Aaron Judge by a wide margin to take American League honors, while Stanton edged Joey Votto in the closest National League race since 1979.

Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber Take Home Cy Young Honors

Max Scherzer and Corey Kluber were named the Cy Young winners in the National and American League, respectively, on Wednesday night.

Scherzer won his second NL Cy Young and third overall, while Kluber claimed his second AL Cy Young.

Scherzer is just the 10th pitcher to win the award in back-to-back seasons and also the 10th to win it at least three times. He won his first Cy Young with the Detroit Tigers in 2013.

Kluber is the 19th pitcher to win multiple Cy Young Awards and the first member of the Cleveland Indians to do so.

Cody Bellinger, Aaron Judge Named MLB's Top Rookies

Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge have been named Major League Baseball's top rookies in the National and American League, respectively.

Bellinger bested Josh Bell of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Paul DeJong of the St. Louis Cardinals. The 21-year-old broke the NL rookie record for home runs with 39 for the Los Angeles Dodgers and finished second in the league behind only Giancarlo Stanton in homers.

Judge is the first member of the New York Yankees to win the award since Derek Jeter in 1996. He led the American League with 52 home runs and is an MVP finalist as well.

Finalists For BWAA Awards Announced

The Baseball Writers' Association of America announced the finalists for its major awards on Tuesday night.

The winners for 2017 will be revealed next week.

Aaron Judge is a finalist for both American League MVP and Rookie of the Year. Only two players have won the awards in the same season.

Here are the three finalists for each award:

George Springer Wins Willie Mays World Series MVP Award

George Springer was an easy choice for the Willie Mays World Series Most Valuable Player Award, after hitting .379 (11-for-29) with five home runs and seven RBIs. His eight extra-base hits were the most ever in a World Series, and he is the first player to homer in four straight games within a single World Series, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
